What happened to the people and items in “Tent City”?
We worked closely with the CSPD Homeless Outreach Team (HOT) to assist these individuals with temporary housing in shelters or obtaining permanent housing. Some relocated to other cities, but only if we had assurance that they had friends or family willing to take them in. Many of these individuals donated time to KCSB in order to "give back" to the City in exchange for the assistance we provided. Our staff and volunteers then organized clean-ups to restore the areas where the camps had been. Many of the former "residents" of "Tent City" assisted with the camp clean up.
